Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, centered in Bangalore, India, is a unitary university set up in 1996 by the government of Karnataka, India, for the regulation and promotion of higher education in health sciences throughout the state of Karnataka. The institution is named after former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi. Originally it was centered in Mysore, but in 1998 the Karnataka state Legislature directed that it be moved to Bangalore.

Eligiblity

Candidates who fulfill the following criteria shall be eligible to appear for the Entrance Test, namely :

  • He / She is a citizen of India.
  • He / She must have studied and passed the courses leading to the award of MBBS/BDS Degrees in colleges recognized by Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India and Government of India established by law and located in Karnataka State; or
  • Candidate must be of Karnataka origin who has studied MBBS / BDS degrees in colleges outside Karnataka recognized by Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India and Government of India and affiliated to any University established by law in India. Explanation : “Candidates of Karnataka origin” means who or his / her parents ( father or mother ) has been a resident of Karnataka State for a period of not less than ten years, and who produces a certificates from the Concerned Tahasildar to that effect in the prescribed form.
  • He / She has completed or is completing compulsory rotatory internship on or before 30th April of the year in which application for entrance test is called for subject to completion of internship course.
  • A candidate, who is already holding a Post-Graduate degree in any speciality, shall not be eligible to appear for test for admission to any Post Graduate Degree / Diploma courses.
  • Must be less than 45 years of age as on the date of admission to Postgraduate course.

Provided that the requirements mentioned under rule 2 (c) shall not be applicable in the case of :

  • The children of serving or retired employees of All India Services, Karnataka cadre of the State Government who had served or are serving outside the State during the period the candidate had been studying from the first standard till the commencement of the first year of the course leading to the degree in the qualifying examination, to the extent of the period of such service outside the state.
  • Children of Central Government employees and employees of Central or State Government undertaking or Joint Sector working continuously in Karnataka for at least three years as on the 30th April of that year.
  • Children of Central Government employees and employees of Central or State Government undertakings or Joint Sector undertaking working as on the 30th April of that year outside the state where such employee had:
  • declared to the respective Government Organization a place in Karnataka as his home town, and
  • studied for not less than five years between the First Standard and SSLC or equivalent examination in any educational institution in Karnataka run or recognized by the State Government.
  • The children of Members of Parliament elected from the Karnataka to the extent of the period of being a Member of Parliament during the period of the child’s study in New Delhi from the First Standard to the qualifying examination during his tenure as Member of Parliament.
  • The children of serving Defence Personnel or Ex-servicemen whose address at the time of joining the Defence Service is in Karnataka.

Note :

1. Children for the purpose of the rule means natural born son or daughter and not adopted son Or daughter and not grandson or grand daughter.
2. The candidates claiming any of the exemption specified above shall produce such certificate as specified by the committee for claiming such exemption.

How To Apply
In Person :

Printout of Application form filled online, along with attested copies of all required certificates and two extra photos, may be submitted for registration, in person, at RGUHS, 4th ‘T’ Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore – 560 041, and the Hall Ticket for the Entrance Test shall be down loaded from the University website from 20.01.2012 using with the Application number and Demand Draft number.

In Absentia :

Any person authorized by the candidate duly signed by him, can submit the printout of application form filled in all respects along with attested copies of all required certificates and two extra photos. The Hall Ticket for the Entrance Test shall be downloaded from the University website.

By Post :

Print out of application filled online, along with attested copies of all required certificates and two extra photos may be sent by post for registration to “The Member secretary, PGET Cell, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. 4th ‘T’ Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore – 560 041”. Candidates should super scribe on the cover as “Application for PGET 2012”.

Note :
  • Please note that the candidate will not become eligible for attending the entrance test only by online RGUHS PGET Registration. The candidate must ensure that print out of his / her RGUHS PGET Application with all enclosures mentioned in the brochure reaches the RGUHS on or before 20.12.2011, 5.00 PM by post. RGUHS is not responsible for any postal delay.
  • Last date to receive the duly filled in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Application along with certificates at RGUHS, Bangalore In Person is on or before 31.12.2011, 5.00 PM.
  • The RGUHS Post Graduate Entrance Test Applications without copies of certificates duly attested will be rejected.
  • The print out of the Applications received after 31.12.2011 shall be strictly rejected.


Duration, Nature of Question Paper and Answer Sheet :

  •  The Entrance Test will be conducted in English.
  • There will be one Question Paper ( booklet ) of three hours duration consisting of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. There will be eight versions of the question paper booklet and therefore Serial Number of question differs from version to version.
  • Questions will be multiple choice types, each having one best response out of four alternatives Answer sheet is of “Optical Mark Reader” ( OMR ) type with carbonless copy. OMR sheet is required to be marked as per instructions on it, using a black or blue Ball point Pen. Copy of the OMR sheet is allowed to be taken by the candidate. Specimen copy of the OMR Answer Sheet is in Appendix-VI. Evaluation is by Optical scanning of OMR Sheet.
  • Each question carries one mark. Correct answer will be awarded -one mark. No Negative valuation.
